Jev State Machine Emulates Toy Programs

Henry Mao built a Jev state machine that adds a prompted problem to its state, samples instructions to mutate that state, and loops until the program halts. Jev determines the control flow.

@typesafeai claims that Jev is designed to be used within programs. But can Jev emulate programs? I built a small Jev State Machine: 1. You give it a problem as a prompt, which is added to its state 2. Jev decides how to mutate its own state by sampling from a set of instructions. 3. It loops until the program halts, acting as an interpreter. You give the goal. Jev decides the control flow. Results on a few toy problems: - Sorting numbers cases: 4/4 each - GCD(84, 36): 4/4 - Digit sum of 2026: 4/4 - Factorial of 5: 2/4 - Fibonacci, Collatz, summing six numbers: 0/4 each (failed) - Sudoku:

It solved the sorting-number cases, GCD(84, 36), and digit sum of 2026 in 4/4 trials each. It solved factorial of 5 in 2/4 trials and failed Fibonacci, Collatz, and summing six numbers in all four trials.
