The prototype monitors typing and uses Jev to determine whether the text is Japanese or English, then automatically switches the IME mode. After switching, it can convert text already typed, such as “watashi” to “私.”
The author noted that manual switching had become habitual and was not particularly troublesome. They said the experiment nevertheless worked better than expected.
